The Eastern Collection

The Eastern Collection – Sing Truth

Songs Sung to the Divine

The Eastern Collection is a gathering of Sanskrit, Gurmukhi, and English chants—sounds that tantalize the mind into states of peace, joy, and acceptance, touching all the Rasas. Some mantras are simple, others more challenging, yet each one invites your senses inward. They ask your own voice to whisper, chant, or fully embody the tones.

Here, words may carry new or unknown meanings, yet they feel as familiar as the call of birds at morning rise. These sounds awaken within you the resonant tone of a hidden bell—the doorway to a place that has always existed, though seldom accessed.

The Eastern Collection will continue to grow, expanding to include more mantras with their meanings, uses, practices, contemplations, and teachings. Each offering is both a tool and a teaching, a living guide to help you make your heart sing true.

Aad Guray Nameh

Aad Guray Nameh is the first line of a four-line Kundalini mantra, or Mangala Charan Mantra, which translates to "I bow to the Primal Wisdom" or "I bow to the first Guru". When chanted, this mantra is used for protection, to cut through negativity, and to establish a protective shield of light around the self.

Lakshmicha

To Make the Personality More Pleasing

When Lakshmi melted into his heart, Vishnu’s nature changed. Even though he was noble in thought and action to begin with, the depth of his change in those qualities was incalculable. Her grace and subsequent union with his heart enabled Lakshmi to become Vishnu’s spouse, or patni in Sanskrit. Thereafter, his already noble personality changed and became gentle

and pure in every way without relinquishing power. The following mantra will similarly bestow pleasing qualities upon your personality. Although it is a long mantra, you will find that it is easy to learn and a delight to say. Early in my career as a spiritual teacher, I used this mantra to help erase any blemish on my personality that might stand in the way of my doing my job properly.

Pranayama Mantra

When we feel depleted there is a source that can replenish our energy. We make think that we need herbs, drugs, vacations, etc... - something outside of us. And while there are times when we need to seek ways in which we can enhance our self care, there is one source that is always available and, even better - FREE. And that is our breath. This mantra guides us into replenishing our energy or as we say in yoga, our Prana.
